6th Grade
Sixth-grade writing gets more advanced as students learn to organize texts with tables of contents, headings, captions, glossaries and footnotes. They will be given math word problems and be asked to identify relevant, missing or extra information needed to solve the problem.
Encourage your children to practice writing by keeping a daily journal. Have them write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about an issue they feel strongly about. Continue to come up with real world math problems to solve.
